Working principle
This product produced from finely ground bituminous or lignite coal, followed by carbonization and steam or chemical activation. This creates a highly porous structure with surface areas of 800–1100 m²/g, containing micropores (<2 nm) and mesopores (2–50 nm). The fine powder particles, typically <75 µm (200 mesh), provide an enormous external surface area for rapid adsorption kinetics. When dosed into water or wastewater, contaminants—including organic compounds, taste/odor-causing substances, pesticides, and trace heavy metals—are rapidly captured through physical van der Waals forces and surface functional group chemisorption. The small particle size ensures intimate contact with target pollutants, achieving equilibrium within minutes.
