Coal granular activated carbon
AQ-GAC600-1100 is a essential filtration media for pristine aquariums. Its high porosity creates a vast surface area that effectively traps dissolved organic compounds, removing unwanted yellow discoloration for crystal-clear water. GAC also adsorbs airborne pollutants, medications, and phenols that cause unpleasant odors. By eliminating these impurities, it helps maintain a healthy, stable environment, making it invaluable for both freshwater and marine setups. Regular replacement is recommended to ensure peak performance.

Working principle
Coal-based granular activated carbon is manufactured from crushed bituminous or lignite coal, followed by carbonization and steam activation. This process develops a bimodal pore structure—a balanced combination of micropores (<2 nm) for small molecule adsorption and mesopores (2–50 nm) for larger organic compounds. The irregular granular shape provides a high external surface area, facilitating rapid mass transfer in liquid-phase applications. In water treatment or gas streams, contaminants are captured through physical van der Waals forces within the pore network, while surface functional groups enable limited chemisorption for polar impurities.

Product Advantages
1.Economical Choice: Lower production cost than coconut shell carbons, making it suitable for high-volume, single-use applications like municipal wastewater treatment. 2.Balanced Pore Architecture: Micropores remove small contaminants (chlorine, VOCs) while mesopores adsorb larger molecules (dyes, humic acids, pesticides)—offering versatility across diverse water qualities. 3.Good Flow Dynamics: Irregular granular shape minimizes channeling in gravity filters and provides excellent hydraulic conductivity during backwashing. 4.Easy Handling and Replacement: Free-flowing granules simplify bed loading and replacement compared to powdered or extruded forms.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Have Questions? We're Here to Help.
Identify the pollutants to be adsorbed; examine key indicators; and conduct small-scale trials to verify the results, taking into account cost.
No. The iodine value only indicates the number of micropores and is suitable for small molecules; if processing large molecules, the methylene blue value and the proportion of mesopores need to be considered.
Drinking water/odor removal: Coconut shell charcoal (high micropores); Municipal high-flow-rate charcoal: Coal-based charcoal (high strength); Industrial wastewater decolorization: Wood-based charcoal (well-developed mesopores); Specific selection requires flexibility.
Granular activated carbon (general purpose), honeycomb activated carbon (high airflow, low resistance), and fiber felt (high-requirement applications) are all available.
Yes. You can contact us to select samples, specifying the quantity and requirements.
Yes. Particle size, column diameter, honeycomb size, pore size, and iodine value/CTC can all be customized to your needs.
